Eric Good
Eric Good is GoodEx‘s President, Owner, and Leader. Eric grew up on a farm and always enjoyed being in the dirt. After working under a local excavator one summer, he founded GoodEx with one piece of equipment and a dream in 1998. Since then, his strong work ethic and dedication to excellence have grown the company and team into what it is today. With a passion for developing leaders, Eric’s day-to-day focus is supporting his team and creating a solid work culture. He takes great satisfaction in nurturing and mentoring individuals, helping them grow into capable leaders both within the company and in their communities. By providing guidance and resources, Eric empowers his team to find innovative solutions and deliver exceptional results. Outside of work, he enjoys farming, spending time with his family, and tinkering with antique tractors.
Craig Martin
Craig Martin plays a critical role at GoodEx serving as Senior Project Manager for the company. He manages the larger commercial projects, guiding our clients through every step and building relationships throughout the process. Craig loves helping the team problem-solve and work together on challenging projects. Craig joined the team in 2007 and now has over 20 years of construction experience. He is a former cattle and poultry farmer. He is a certified excavator and Responsible Land Disturber and holds several Precision Awards. Craig loves camping, traveling, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his wife, Wanda and their four daughters. When he’s not at work, he dabbles in real estate and enjoys building houses, cabins and the occasional bookshelf or chicken coop.
Marlin Shank
Marlin Shank has been with GoodEx since 2015 and is one of our skilled Project Managers. Marlin approaches his role like an artist and visualizes the finished product first. He interprets the client’s vision, reviews all options, develops a plan and relays the strategy to our operators. He enjoys helping our clients achieve their dreams and creating a fantastic experience for them. Marlin has a background in agriculture, forestry and construction, enabling him to bring a wealth of knowledge and resources to every job site. He enjoys hunting, fishing, home improvement projects and farming in his free time.
Jonathan Burkholder
Jonathan Burkholder is our dedicated Estimator who plays a critical role in helping customers understand the site work process and providing them with pricing estimates and options. He loves the challenge of working on the front end of a project and prides himself on staying alert to any potential problems and keeping our customers informed. Before joining the GoodEx team in 2016, Jonathan worked in the construction and excavation industry for over twenty years, enabling him to bring a wide range of hands-on experience to every estimate. When he’s not busy working, Jonathan likes to be outdoors and spend time with his family.
Sheldon Koogler
Sheldon Koogler is critical at GoodEx as Superintendent and oversees daily management and scheduling for our commercial projects. Sheldon joined our team in 2010, and his years of experience are invaluable when identifying and addressing problems that pop up throughout projects. He loves the variety of jobs he oversees, but getting behind the wheel and operating the equipment is still his favorite thing about his job. He grew up on a dairy farm, and to this day, when he’s not busy on a project site, he loves doing anything outdoors and spending time on his property in West Virginia.
Justin Sager
Justin Sager is one of our trusted Superintendents and has been with GoodEx since 2010. He joined the team as a Laborer and was quickly promoted to Operator and then Foreman before growing into his Superintendent position. In this role, Justin oversees day-to-day excavation projects by planning jobs, ordering materials, scheduling machine moves and supervising personnel. He approaches every job like he is paying the bill himself, always closely watching budgets and timelines. He loves spending time outside, farming and hunting in his spare time.
Winfred Horst
Winfred Horst is our experienced Mechanic Supervisor who supervises and repairs all GoodEx equipment and ensures our machines run their best for our clients. He’s been with the team since 2014 and started as a mechanic’s helper before moving into the supervisor role. He enjoys the diversity of jobs and the opportunity to provide hands-on service. Outside of work, Winfred enjoys woodworking, taking motorcycle trips, and smoking and cooking great food.
Dolores Horst
Dolores Horst has been a valuable and loyal member of the GoodEx team since 2011. She has loved watching the company grow from 8 employees to over 30. As our Office Manager, Dolores answers phone calls, helps customers understand our process step-by-step, and keeps all aspects of the office running smoothly. She loves that every day is different and that she gets to use her fine-tuned problem-solving skills daily. When she’s not at work, Dolores loves to garden and travel.
Ashton Shank
Ashton Shank plays a critical role at GoodEx, serving as our Estimator and Topcon GPS Technician. In this role, he uses the information collected at a site visit to prepare detailed proposals by entering project specifications into our Topcon MAGNET estimating software. Ashton joined GoodEx in 2021 and loves working with great people and the opportunity to answer project questions before breaking ground. He enjoys spending time hunting, fishing and working out at the gym when he’s not busy working.
Melissa Berdine
Melissa Berdine has been our dependable Secretary since 2022. She joined GoodEx with over eight years of experience in payroll and office administration and loves helping make other people’s days a little easier. At GoodEx, she plays an instrumental role in answering phone calls, taking payments, conducting payroll and assisting the Office Manager with various administrative tasks. In her spare time, Melissa likes to read good books and go for long car rides in the country.
